Cedar Rapids, IA Living History
August 15 & 16, 2020
Thank you EVERYONE that attended the 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 & 2019 events making them a smashing success. Pre-registration has now begun. If you are attending please send Dave Pasbrig your NAME, your UNIT and your IMPRESSION. You will be added to the email list for the event so that you can stay in the loop as to goings on.
The 416th Rifle Regiment will be hosting the WWII living history at Seminole Valley Farm. The farm is next to the Historic Village we hosted the event at back in 2011. The event is open to all CORRECT World War Two impressions, both military and civilian (Partisan & Home Front), Vietnam War and WW1. We even have room for WWII vendors if they wish to set up and sell. The farmstead has plenty of wide open areas for large displays, camps and vehicles. We are especially looking for World War Two veterans who would like to speak of their experiences to the public. Contact us for details and to get on the schedule. Reenactors that do specialty presentations, such as specific individuals (generals or famous historic persons) and specific units are also encouraged to do a presentation, just make sure to contact us to get on the schedule. Reenactors who are able to do uniform presentations (gear up and talk about their uniforms & accoutrements to the public) and weapons firing demos are asked to please step forward as we will be scheduling these. If we have enough reenactors in attendance and they wish to do a public battle we can do so. We were able to do a small skirmish for the public Saturday and Sunday this past event.
Overnight camping is available Friday and Saturday nights. This event is free to the public. Public donations will be requested with it split between the farm and the honor flight. Dinner donations will be separate. Pre-registration is requested, and there is NO FEE. Firewood, bathroom facilities and water will be available. Other amenities are currently being discussed as there may be a food vendor on site. Because this event has a budget of $0 and being run by volunteers we are unable to provide vehicle bounties or blank issues. However please feel free to bring your vehicle if you can.
